Your Invitation to More than Heritage

We would like to invite you to a Heritage Celebration to be held in Nottingham on Saturday 28th June 2008.

The Salvation Army’s International Heritage Centre and the Nottingham William Booth Memorial Halls Corps (King Edward Street, Nottingham, NG1 1EU) are hosting this exciting event. The International Heritage Centre is facilitating a series of talks in the form of a symposium, arranging a small exhibition and providing an opportunity to watch some very early SA cinematograph. The theme for the day will be:

morethanheritage

Major David Radford (William Booth Memorial Complex) has kindly agreed for the William Booth Birthplace Museum at Notintone Place to be open for viewing by delegates to the symposium and general public. A mini-bus shuttle service will operate between the Hall and Birthplace Museum.

The day will also include the first public viewing of the recently restored painting Portrait of a Victorian Salvationist by J Earl Morrells.

I enclose more information about the day. Registration will start at 9.00am with the official welcome at 10.15am. There will be four speakers at the symposium – two in the morning and two in the afternoon. The first speaker will commence at 10.30am. We anticipate bringing the event to a conclusion at around 5.15pm.

There is no cost for the day other than a £1 donation which will cover programme and registration. Teas, coffees and soft drinks will be provided, but you may wish to eat out at lunch time or bring a packed lunch. William Booth Memorial Halls does not have a car park, but there are public car parks located nearby.

It would be helpful if you could give some indication of how many of your members plan to attend. We can be contacted at the above address or by email on raymond.brown@salvationarmy.org.uk . More information can also be viewed on our church website at www.wbmh.org.uk

God bless you.

Raymond Brown, Major

Corps Officer
